French fries & Co from the air fryer are on everyone's lips. Is it all just hot air? In this article, you'll find out.
Why do you need an air fryer?
An air fryer is often also called a fat-free fryer. With this name, you can already guess what it's all about. This designation is not always entirely correct, of course, but more on that later.
However, it is true that you don't have to add oil or fat to an air fryer to cook crispy, as a hot air fryer is completely different from a conventional fryer.
How does a hot air fryer work?
Unlike deep fat fryers, an air fryer uses the principle of very hot and rapidly circulating air to "fry" food.
The hot air circulates in a high-quality air fryer at a speed of up to 75 kilometers per hour.
Unlimited Variety
But not only fries without oil, all dishes that you can deep fry, bake, roast or even grill can be prepared healthily and deliciously in your air fryer without any problems. Thanks to preparation with hot air, the dishes have a natural taste compared to deep frying in a fat bath.
So you eat low-fat, low-calorie and therefore much healthier.
Air fryers promise even more: In them, you can not only prepare classic fried dishes, but also bake cakes, pizza or casseroles. With the growing interest in vegetarian diets, frying vegetables (e.g. in batter) is also becoming increasingly popular.
Air fryer vs. oven
Crispy fries, for example, are never really good in a normal oven - and if they are, it's usually a very tedious and energy-consuming undertaking. Buying an air fryer as an additional appliance is particularly worthwhile because of the crispy and tasty results and lower power consumption.
An air fryer usually takes less than half the time to prepare crispy chips and uses only half the electricity compared to a convection oven.
Conclusion
Air fryers are true all-rounders and a great addition to any modern household that values healthy eating. Even if the frying results don't quite match those of a classic deep fryer, the air fryer is the winner compared to a normal oven in terms of crispiness and energy saving and is a much healthier alternative to a normal deep fryer, as it works completely without oil and fat.
